I happily work with children/teens kindergarten age through young adulthood.  When needed, I offer you practical parenting support and solutions that can ease your and your child’s stress and improve the dynamics at home, whether it’s anxiety, “acting out” or other difficulties.

My sessions with kids are fun, engaging, and get results.  Helping kids and teens name understand and accept their feelings and needs can increase self-confidence, decrease anxiety and enhance family communication and connection fir a lifetime. Here are some of the things I’ve helped Kids/Teens and parents with:

  • difficulty managing emotions – both “BIG” feelings and shutting down feelings.

  • anxiety

  • low self-esteem

  • depression

  • illnesses and home instruction

  • ADD related challenges

  • bullying (the victim or the “bully”)

I worked for many years in the NJ public schools - elementary, middle and high school levels- in the capacity of In-School Therapist, Child Study Team Member and Anti-Bullying Specialist. I know how schools operate and help you work with teachers and staff on behalf of your child or teen.  They spend A LOT of time in school!  Let’s make sure it’s a really positive experience for them!

Therapy for Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Kids/Teens

Your child or teen has come out to you as transgender or gender “variant” in some way, and you need help.  So many feelings!

I am experienced and educated in up-to-date “best practices” for helping children and teens navigate the challenges of exploring their authentic identities.

Gender nonconforming youth face unique challenges in school and at home: wanting to fit in, be accepted and loved while at the same time respond to the truth about themselves. Many are at risk for depression and anxiety.

For parents, the experience varies, whether you “had a feeling” for a while now, or are completely surprised by your child coming out in some way, there is potentially a lot to learn and a lot of feelings to go through. I help the parents of my gender variant clients learn, communicate and connect with resources to help the process go as well-supported as possible.

I help navigate securing support at school as well, so that your child can concentrate on their education.

This is a stunning time in our society with the “gender revolution” being a real phenomenon.

More and more people of all ages are embracing nontraditional gender presentations and identities. It can be daunting for those of us who have been raised in a binary world.

I can help.
